AI-based services and basti outreach: TGSPDCL chief Musharraf Ali orders better grievance addressal
Hyderabad: Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) chairman and managing director Musharraf Ali Faruqui on Monday directed officials to implement Artificial Intelligence-based monitoring systems and hold weekly interaction sessions with consumers in colonies and bastis across the city.
Weekly consumer interaction for grievance redressal
To strengthen consumer connect and ensure timely redressal of complaints, the CMD directed officials to conduct interaction programs every Wednesday in bastis and colonies. Officials were told to remain accessible to consumers and address their grievances without delay.
AI-based monitoring to ensure quick response
The CMD announced that Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be integrated into power distribution operations to record real-time data on demand, supply and interruptions. This system will automatically alert field engineers about faults and service disruptions, enabling quick corrective action.
Currently, out of the 8,681 11kV feeders under TGSPDCL, 6,885 feeders are being monitored through the Feeder Outage Management System. The remaining feeders will soon be brought under this system to ensure seamless monitoring of the entire network.
Focus on transformer-level supervision
Emphasising the need for micro-level supervision, Musharraf Faruqui instructed officials to monitor power supply at the Distribution Transformer (DTR) level rather than only at the feeder level. Divisional Engineers and Superintending Engineers were told to prioritise feeders and transformers facing frequent issues, conduct field inspections regularly, and implement immediate corrective measures.
Preparing for rising power demand
Observing the sharp increase in electricity demand, especially in Greater Hyderabad, Musharraf Faruqui directed engineers to submit reports by August 15 outlining measures needed to meet next summerās peak demand efficiently. He stressed that services such as sanctioning new connections must be completed within stipulated timelines under the Standards of Performance (SOP) framework to avoid consumer inconvenience.
