Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) legislator from Charminar Mumtaz Ahmed Khan allegedly slapped his neighbor for not greeting him.

The slapping incident was captured on a CCTV installed nearby. The neighbor approached the Hussainialam police alleging Charminar legislator Mumtaz Ahmed Khan of assaulting him over a petty issue on Saturday night.

Ghulam Ghouse Jeelani, who stays at Panch Mohalla in Charminar, claimed he was sitting near his house when the legislator who was passing by, came and hit him for reportedly not greeting him.

The man lodged a complaint with the police alleging AIMIM MLA Mumtaz Khan came with his personal security officer (PSO) and slapped him 10-15 times just for not greeting him with `Aslam-u-Aliqum'.

Acting on the complaint, a case under IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) has been booked against Khan.

"We have launched an investigation against the MLA and evidence is being collected," said police.
