All-India Education Right Forum calls for national movement against NEP
Dr. V. Prasad, the executive secretary of the All-India Right to Education Forum, alleged that education is becoming a business under the BJP government.
By Newsmeter Network Published on 14 Nov 2022 10:30 AM GMTHyderabad: The All-India Education Right Forum held its National Council meetings on 11, 12, and 13 November that was attended by 200 delegates from 12 states. At the meeting, Professor Jag Mohan Singh urged the Telangana government not to implement the National Education Policy (NEP). He said the NEP is against social justice and called the policy a fascist education policy of the BJP-led Central government.
Prof. Singh further advised the state government to "formulate the education policy at the state level by the constitutional values" and called for the movement against NEP to be further strengthened at the pan-India level.
Dr. V. Prasad, the executive secretary of the All-India Right to Education Forum, alleged that education is becoming a business under the BJP government. "The fees in reputed higher educational institutions have increased drastically and higher education opportunities are being taken away from the poor and the Dalits," he said.
Reiterating the need for a public movement, Professor G. Haragopal, a member of the Forum, said that "only a strong public movement can stop the destruction created by the National Education Policy 2020." While Prof. Madhu Prasad, spokesperson of the Forum, called for the Left, democratic, and Opposition parties to come forward and reject the anti-public education system. "The aim should be to bring an education system that is conducive to the goals of the freedom struggle," he added.
Besides the resolution to abolish the NEP, resolutions were also passed demanding the release of Professor Anand Tel Tumbde, cancel the 10% EWS reservation, and stop attacks on students' and teachers' movements.
