All set for GHMC polls on Tuesday, 13,500 cops deployed in Cyberabad

By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Nov 2020 3:25 AM GMTHyderabad: More than 13,500 personnel have been deployed for smooth conduct of GHMC elections in 38 divisions falling under 19 police stations in Cyberabad.
Around 20.5 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in 2,569 polling station covering 674 polling locations in Cyberabad on December 1.
Police are making all efforts to ensure free and fair polling across the jurisdiction.
"We have conducted meetings with all political parties and sensitized them about the Model Code of Conduct. Also, zone-wise sensitization meetings covering all ranks of police officers were also conducted," said Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar.
An ACP rank officer has been designated as Nodal Officer for coordinating with election authorities in each GHMC circle. "Two officers are assigned to a polling location and they are taking responsibility for the area. They are trained and sensitized in all activities of election and will act as process managers for the polling process," he said.
There are 10 distribution, reception, and counting centers across Cyberabad.
The Commissioner said regular vehicle checking is being held at 15 places to keep an eye on the flow of money and liquor. Flag march and area domination exercises are being done regularly. "Also 11 flying squad teams and 11 static surveillance teams are working 24/7 in three shifts. They are organizing random and surprise checks to enforce the model code of conduct. This apart, camera mounted patrolling vehicles are being used in public meetings/ rallies, processions and in sensitive areas," Sajjanar said.
So far, 588 licensed arms have been deposited with the police and 368 trouble mongers, rowdy sheeters were bound over for good conduct.
Cyberabad police are using IT including Geo-tagging and closed-circuit cameras for monitoring the elections. Cyberabad WhatsApp control room number 9490617444 is active 24x7 to receive complaints from citizens.
"Social Media is being monitored closely by three teams round the clock. Stringent action will be taken against mischief mongers and rumor mongers who use social media to create unrest/panic," the Commissioner said.
