Alprazolam drug bust: Telangana Police freeze villas, factory, land worth Rs 30 Cr
Hyderabad: In a major blow to drug syndicates, the Sangareddy police along with the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE), Telangana, have seized properties worth nearly Rs 30 crore belonging to six persons arrested for trafficking Alprazolam.
Six arrested with commercial quantity of Alprazolam
The Gummadidala police had earlier arrested six accused Girmagouni Sudheer, Bishweswar Singh, Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi, Girmagouni Srivani, Bhavanigari Prabhu Vara Goud, and Gajjala Srishailam Goud ā for possessing 1090 grams of Alprazolam, a commercial quantity banned under the NDPS Act.
Financial probe uncovers illegal assets
After their arrest, a detailed financial investigation was launched by the police. The probe revealed that the accused and their associates had amassed multiple movable and immovable properties using illegal proceeds from Alprazolam trafficking.
The seized assets include 46.18 acres of agricultural land, 217 sq yards of open plots, a chemical factory, two villas (G+2 floors), four vehicles, and several bank accounts.
Market value exceeds Rs 30 crore
While the government valuation of these properties is Rs 6.10 crore, their market value is estimated to be around Rs 30 crore, officials said.
Break-up of seized properties
The prime accused Girmagouni Sudheer Goud possessed 12.29 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 29.31 lakh, an ICICI bank balance of Rs 8,179, and a Ford Endeavor worth Rs 41.14 lakh (registered in his nephewās name).
Bishweswar Singh (A2) owned 6.37 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 11.70 lakh, 1439 sq yards of open plots worth ā¹67.59 lakh (with his wife Aruna Singh), and had a stake in Stanchem Chemicals Factory at Abdullapurmet worth Rs 7.26 crore (jointly with A1, A3, A4, and wife).
He also held bank balances of Rs 8.77 lakh in Kotak Mahindra Bank and a Skoda Kodiaq worth Rs 49.85 lakh (in his wifeās name).
Rajeshwar Sharma Joshi (A3) had 0.22 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 1.23 lakh and a 214 sq yard plot worth Rs 4.92 lakh.
Girmagouni Srivani (A4) owned 2.20 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 5.62 lakh, had an Axis bank balance of Rs 3.75 lakh, and a Skoda VW Virtus GT Plus worth Rs 18 lakh.
Bhavanigari Prabhu Vara Goud (A6) possessed 18.23 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 36.29 lakh, bank balances of Rs 9.20 lakh in ICICI and Rs 4.02 lakh in HDFC, and a villa worth Rs 90.68 lakh at Primus Epsilon Gated Community, Gundlapochampally.
Gajjala Srishailam Goud (A18) had 5 acres of agricultural land worth Rs 28.73 lakh (4 acres in his wifeās name), a villa worth Rs 43.20 lakh at Mahidhara Rock Garden, Chandanagar, an HDFC bank balance of Rs 42,812, and an Innova Crysta worth Rs 31 lakh.
Properties forfeited under NDPS Act
On 2 July 2025, these properties were forfeited under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, after confirmation from the competent authority in Chennai.
Public urged to report drug activities
Authorities have appealed to citizens to report any drug-related activities to EAGLE by calling Toll-Free 1908 or emailing tsnabho-hyd@tspolice.gov.in. Officials assured that all information would remain confidential and credible informants would be suitably rewarded.
