'Amara Deepam': Here are details about the 45-meter-tall Telangana Martyrs Memorial

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao will inaugurate Telangana Martyrs Memorial on Thursday to mark the culmination of the 21-day celebration of the Telangana State Formation.

Amara Deepam has been set up on the banks of Hussain Sagar. Telangana Martyrs Memorial pays tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for statehood. Constructed with 1,600 tonnes of stainless steel, the impressive six-story structure takes the form of an elliptical earthen lamp.

Costing Rs 177.5 crore, the memorial spans 26,800 square meters on 3.29 acres of land, standing 45 meters tall. The unveiling of Amara Deepam serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made and will inspire future generations.

Its height measures 26 meters on one side and 18 meters on the other, culminating in an impressive total height of 45 meters above the ground level.

Here are the details of the memorial building across its different floors:

Basement - 1: Spanning an area of 1,06,993 sq.ft., it provides parking facilities for 160 cars and 200 two-wheelers.

Basement - 2: Covering a built-up area of 1,06,993 sq.ft., this level offers parking space for 175 cars and 200 two-wheelers. It also houses a lounge area, lift, lobby, and an underground sump with a water capacity of 3 lakh liters.

Ground Floor: Encompassing an area of 28,707 square feet, this floor caters to maintenance, civil, and electrical activities.

First Floor: Covering an area of 10,656 sq.ft., it features a museum, a photo gallery, and an audio-visual room with a seating capacity of 70 people.

Second Floor: Spreading across 16,964 square feet, this floor consists of a convention hall and a lobby area.

Third Floor (Terrace): Extending over an area of 8,095 sq ft, it includes a sitting area, a restaurant with a pantry section, a viewpoint, and open terrace seating.

Mezzanine Floor: Encompassing 5,900 sq.ft., this floor houses a restaurant with a glass roof and an overhead tank.

At the heart of the memorial stands the "Amara Lamp," a 26-meter flame constructed from low carbon structural steel, emitting a luminous golden-yellow color. It serves as the centerpiece and a symbol of homage to the valiant martyrs of Telangana.
