Hyderabad: The city will witness a special tribute to Bollywood legend Dev Anand on February 28 as part of the ‘Remembering Razia Baig’ series.

The event, organised by the Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Foundation, will feature ‘Anand hi Anand’, an audio-visual presentation by actress and writer Sohaila Kapur.

The session will highlight the lives and contributions of Dev Anand and his brothers, Chetan Anand and Vijay Anand, who played a significant role in shaping Indian cinema.

Honouring women in performing arts

The ‘Remembering Razia Baig’ series was launched last month to spotlight the contributions of women in performing arts, including cinema, theatre, dance, music, fashion and cuisine. It is conceptualized by Padma Shri Mohammad Ali Baig in memory of his mother, Razia Baig.

Speaking about the initiative, Mohammad Ali Baig said, “This series is dedicated to bringing forth the stories of women who have made a mark in their respective fields. After launching it with singer-actress Ila Arun’s ‘Parde ke Peechhey’, we now bring ‘Anand hi Anand’ to Hyderabad.”

A tribute to the Anand Brothers

Sohaila Kapur’s presentation, ‘Anand hi Anand’, will take the audience through the cinematic journey of the three Anand brothers. The 70-minute session, conducted in English and Hindi, will showcase key moments from their films, behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known aspects of their lives.

“Dev Anand was not just an actor; he was a phenomenon. His films, his dialogues and his style have left a lasting impact on Indian cinema,” said Sohaila Kapur. “This session will offer an insight into the creative legacy of the Anand brothers.”

Sohaila Kapur, a noted writer, director, and theatre actress, is also the sister of filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.

Event details

The event is scheduled for Friday, February 28, 2025, at 7:30 pm at Radisson Blu Plaza, Banjara Hills. It is open to cinema and theatre enthusiasts looking to revisit the legacy of one of Bollywood’s most celebrated figures.
