By Newsmeter Network Published on 30 Dec 2024 6:35 PM ISTHyderabad: As many as eight consumers tested positive for a range of drugs including marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamine, and Methamphetamine at Quake during a high-tech/discreet operation conducted by the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), in collaboration with Cyberabad Police, in Madhapur on Sunday night.
Equal Justice for All: No Exceptions
Even high-profile individuals were not exempt from the operation. Internationally acclaimed German DJ Ben Bohmer and his team were also subjected to the testing process and were cleared as drug-free.
This demonstrates TGANB’s commitment to treating every individual equally, regardless of their social stature or recognition. Further, this was a precondition which was imposed by the permitting authority i.e., CP, Cyberabad.
Acting on credible information received on the December 28 afternoon that suspected drug consumers might attend an event, the TGANB launched a meticulously planned operation to identify and intercept drug usage at the venue.
Advanced Equipment: World-Class Technology
The TGANB officials have utilised various initiatives such as cutting-edge equipment, including advanced drug detection kits, rapid-result urine and saliva testing kits and trained narcotics detection dogs. These tools enabled on-the-spot testing with unparalleled accuracy. The advanced technology ensured immediate results, leaving no scope for evasion.
Using this coordinated approach, the team identified 25 potential drug consumers. Out of these, 14 individuals were subjected to advanced drug testing. The tests revealed that eight individuals tested positive for drugs.
The operation
The TGANB officials said that they came to know about the event a day before only, a special team of 22 officers, including DSPs from State Task Force, Cyberabad and Rachakonda Narcotics Police Stations was formed immediately.
Strict Warning to Pubs and Bars
TGANB has directed all pubs and bars in Telangana to display prominently that their establishment is a drug-free space and to strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking. Any violation of these norms will attract severe legal consequences.
In this case, though the pub is in the proximity of a school, the management has not mentioned the zero-tolerance policy towards underage drinking and its impact.
With the New Year celebrations around the corner, TGANB has announced that similar rigorous checks will be conducted at all events and parties across Telangana. Stringent action will be taken against anyone involved in the consumption or supply of drugs. This operation sends a strong message that there is absolutely no place for drugs in Telangana, according to the TGANB officials.
Public appeal
TGANB urges event organizers and the youth to stay away from drugs. A drug-free lifestyle is essential for a brighter future, family well-being, and societal peace.
"If you have information about drug consumption or trafficking, please report it immediately to TGANB’s toll-free number 1908. Your identity will be kept confidential, and your cooperation can help make Telangana a drug-free state," the TGANB officials said.
