Hyderabad: The city Cybercrime police arrested two Nigerian nationals and a woman from Pune in the AP Mahesh Cooperative Urban Bank e-fraud case.
Cybercriminals hacked the servers of the AP Mahesh Cooperative Urban Bank and allegedly transferred Rs 12.9 crore to 129 accounts on January 25.
The bank management noticed suspicious transactions in several accounts and lodged a complaint with Hyderabad Cybercrime police.
Cybercrime wing of Hyderabad police registered a case and took up an investigation on Monday.
Teams of the Hyderabad police went to several states to identify and question the account holders. In certain instances, the police found that the account holders do not have knowledge of the transactions or that an account exists of their name in the particular bank.
According to the police, the fraudsters transferred the amount to three main accounts and subsequently to 129 more accounts spread across the country.
