Secunderabad: A magnificent Commandant’s Banner presentation ceremony was held on November 30 at Tejas Parade Ground, Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal.

The award of Commandant’s Banner symbolises overall excellence and marks the conclusion of a fiercely contested series of events, ranging from physical activities, sports, debate, quizzes, cultural events, cross-country runs, field camps, drill competitions and academics.

The crescendo of this quest for excellence was marked by the prestigious Inter-Squadron Drill Competition.

The Flight Cadets and Under Trainee Flying Officers (UTFOs) in impeccable uniforms, captivated the distinguished audience, which included all instructional staff and senior officers of the Academy. Their disciplined march past blended perfectly with the stirring martial tunes played by the IAF Band.

During this prestigious event, Aquino Squadron was declared the Champion Squadron for the Autumn Term 2024. It was a spectacular sight as Squadron Cadet Captain, Flight Cadet Phalke Saee Vikram of Aquino Squadron marched forward with precision to receive the esteemed banner from Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Commandant, AFA.

As a symbol of their outstanding achievement, the cadets of the Champion Squadron will proudly don a lanyard on their left shoulder throughout the forthcoming term.

In his address to the Flight Cadets and UTFOs, the Commandant lauded their competitive streak, teamwork, leadership, camaraderie, zeal and sporting spirit.

He underscored the vital importance of physical fitness and mental resilience in a military career.

The Commandant also congratulated the instructors for their pivotal role in transforming greenhorns into confident and competent cadets, equipping them to uphold the Academy’s exemplary standards.
