Attn cell phone users: Don’t panic if you lose your mobile; just log in on CEIR
About 750 police stations are being trained to handle this system, awareness programs will be held for everyone using cellphone to knows about CEIR

SPs and CPs of all districts of the state were made aware of Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) policy through video conference.
Speaking on the occasion, DGP Anjani Kumar said cell phone theft cases have increased significantly. He advised police officers to spread awareness among common people in villages and towns about CEIR which is being introduced to locate lost cell phones. He said that this policy will be launched on May 17 as World Telecom Day.
Additional DG Mahesh Bhagwat said officers in 750 police stations are being trained to handle this system. He said awareness programs should be held in the circle and division of the police station so that everyone who uses cell phones knows about CEIR.
“If someone comes to the police station with a lost cell phone, the respective receptionist should enter the complete details in the Central Equipment Identity Register app. If someone has dropped a cell phone or someone has stolen it, there is a high chance of finding it immediately if he registers it in CEIR. He said through the CEIR application, which has been introduced by the central government, they will be able to find such mobiles.
How to register on CEIR
1. Central Equipment Identity Register has been introduced under the auspices of the Ministry of Telecom.
2. Those who misplace their mobiles can log in to www.ceir.gov.in.
3. It will show Request for Blocking Lost/Stolen Mobile link.
4. Click on it and upload the lost phone numbers, IMEI numbers, company name, model, and purchase bill.
5. The date where the mobile was lost, state, district, and police station complaint details should be entered.
6. Finally, the user's name, address, identity card, e-mail id, and another mobile number for OTP should be given.
7. An ID number will be received and the phone status can be known.
8. After finding mobile, the user should go to the same website and click on the link called On Block/Found Mobile.
9. Once the ID is entered, the phone will be unlocked.
10. CEIR application should be used to provide information to the police in their jurisdiction immediately after the incident.
