Hyderabad: Drinking water supply to several localities in Hyderabad will be disrupted for 18 hours, from 10 am on Saturday to 4 am on Sunday.

This follows emergency repair works on a major supply pipeline and scheduled power maintenance, officials said.

In a press release issued here, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said urgent repairs are being taken up to arrest heavy leakages in the 1,600 mm diameter Phase-III main pipeline of the Singur drinking water project, located between Pedapur and Singapur.

The pipeline is a key component of the city’s bulk water supply system.

Power shutdown to impact pumping operations

In addition to pipeline repairs, TS Transco will undertake MRT testing, hot-line rectification, and routine maintenance works on the Pedapur feeder at the 132-kV Kandi substation. Officials said the power shutdown is unavoidable and will affect water pumping during the maintenance window.
