Hyderabad: Mir Alam Government Boys High School’s inconsistency and delay in opening the school gate has frustrated the students and their parents. It has become a common sight to see students waiting outside the school as the management often arrives after 9 am to open the gates.

Mirza Baig, a concerned parent who regularly drops off his children at a nearby private school, has observed the issue many times. During most days when he drove past the Mir Alam Government Boys High School in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad, he witnessed a line of students waiting for the gates to open. This issue highlighted a critical issue within the school’s management.

Mukarram, deputy CEO of Hyderabad, expressed his concern, stating, “Punctuality is a fundamental aspect of any educational institution. The delay in opening the school gates of Mir Alam Government Boys High School is a matter of great concern, as it disrupts the daily routine and impacts the students' learning experience.”

Another voice echoing the concerns of the community is Mohd Abdul Akram, an RTI activist from Hyderabad. Akram pointed out, “It is imperative for educational institutions to adhere to their schedules, ensuring that students have a consistent and reliable learning environment. The recurrent tardiness in opening the school gate is not only an inconvenience but also a disservice to the students.”

Yugantar NGO, a local organisation committed to the welfare of children, has taken note of this issue and has called for immediate action. The NGO believes that not opening the school gate on time affects students’ punctuality and their safety. With young children left waiting outside, it creates a potential vulnerability that needs to be addressed promptly.

The school in question offers both Urdu and English medium education, making it a crucial educational institution in the area. But the tardiness in opening the school gate has become a point of contention for students, parents, and the community.

The impact of the inconsistency in opening the school gate goes beyond mere inconvenience. It disrupts students’ daily routines, affects their concentration in class, and poses safety concerns. It also raises questions about the school management’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

“It is essential that the authorities and the school management take immediate steps to address this issue. Punctuality should be a non-negotiable aspect of any educational institution. Students deserve a consistent and safe learning environment,” added Mukkaram.
