Banjara hills: 3 of a gang arrested in copper wire theft in police control room; Rs. 38L worth property recovered
38 copper wire bundles were missing from the under-construction command & control centre
By Newsmeter Network Published on 15 Jun 2022 1:56 PM GMTHyderabad: Four days after the theft in the upcoming police command and control centre on Road No.12 in Banjara Hills, on Wednesday, the Banjara Hills Police arrested three persons of a 4-member gang involved in the theft. 38 copper wire bundles were missing from the under-construction command & control centre.
The accused persons were engaged by Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Pvt . Ltd and they were allotted to work in the command & control center building. The accused persons while working there committed the theft of 38 copper wire bundles.
A gang of four is found to be involved in the case. The arrested persons have been identified as Sonu Khan (34), an ambulance driver, a resident of Tolichowki in Hyderabad and a native of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, ) Sourab Biswas (24), a resident of Banjara Hills in Hyderabad and originally from Assam, Bikash Ranjan Behera (19), a resident of Nampally, in Hyderabad and hailing from Odisha. The fourth accused Shanker Kumar is absconding.
9 bundles of copper wires were recovered from Jangam Suresh, who works in a scrap shop in NBT Nagar in Banjara Hills, 15 bundles from Avula Raju Mallesh, who works in a scrap shop in Balkampet, 10 bundles from Mohd. Abid Hussain, who works in a scrap shop in Musheerabad and the remaining 4 bundles from Sonu Khan. 38 Copper Bundles worth Rs. 38,00,000, a Maruti Suzuki Omni ambulance, white in colour, and two cell phones were seized by the police.
What happened
On 10 June, the Banjarahills police received a complaint from Pingili Narender, the admin in charge of Shapoorji Pallonji & Company Pvt . Ltd and working at Command Control, stating that their in charge noticed 38 bundles of copper wires were missing from the stocks. He ascertained that they had searched in all possible places but could not find it. The total copper bundles missing were worth Rs. 38 lakhs. He requested the necessary action.
Modus Operandi
Sonu Khan was working as an ambulance driver and he used to park his vehicle at Basement 1 of Command Control. Shanker was a store helper at Command Control. Sourab Biswas and Bikash Ranjan Behera were working as security guards. All four hatched a plan and committed the theft of 38 copper wire bundles and sold the stolen property at three scrap shops situated in NBT Nagar, Balkampet, and Musheerabad.
