Banjara Hills police station located in the heart of the city has become a Covid hotspot with as many as eleven personnel testing positive.

Those infected include an inspector and a lady officer. Nine other ranks including constables were also tested positive.
It is learnt that all of them have been placed under home isolation as they do not have serious symptoms.
Sensing trouble, the police department has ramped up the safety measures.
It may be noted that Banjara Hills had the highest number of Covid positive cases in the initial days of the pandemic in 2020. Around 30 personnel were then tested positive. An Assistant Sub-inspector even died of Covid in July 2020.
Despite having the highest number of cases, cops have braved all odds and overcame the situation. All the recovered cops have resumed duties.
Telangana reported 1,498 new COVID cases on Monday taking the overall tally to 3,14,735 in the state.
The state reported six new deaths on April 5 taking the total death toll to 1,729. The fatality rate in the state is 0.54 per cent which is less than the national average of 1.3 per cent.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on Monday reported 313 new cases. The neighbouring Rangareddy district reported 128 new cases. Medchal Malkajgiri reported 142 and Sangareddy 29 new cases.
Other districts of Telangana are also seeing a surge in cases. Nizamabad on Monday reported 142 new cases while Nirmal reported 85 cases and Jagtiyal reported 60 cases.
Around 245 citizens recovered from the infection on Monday taking total recoveries to 3,03,013 in the state. The recovery rate, as per the government, now stands at 96.27 per cent, which is approximately four per cent higher than the national average of 92.5 percent. The state has 9,993 active cases currently of which 5,323 are under home isolation.
The government tested 62,350 citizens on Monday. So far 1,04,98,347 samples have been tested in the state. Samples tested per million population stand at 2,82,061. Reports of 1,866 samples are awaited. The state tested 48.1 per cent primary contacts while 12.9 per cent secondary contacts.
