Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police have sought the help of bars, hotels, and pubs to prevent drunk driving accidents by taking preventive measures and by educating their customers.

In view of the increasing number of road accidents due to drunk driving, the Cyberabad police held a meeting with the representatives of all bars, restaurants, pubs, malls, wine shops, function halls, and hotels on 10 April.

The Cyberabad commissioner of police, V.C Sajjanar, spoke to the representatives of all such establishments and urged them to join hands with the Cyberabad police to prevent drunk driving.

The representatives were told to participate actively in the drive against drunk driving by taking certain preventive measures on their premises. Also, they were advised to deploy staff specifically to verify, identify, and prevent their customers from driving under the influence of alcohol.

They were asked to take up proactive measures to educate, alert, and help their customers to travel safely back home by arranging alternative transportation facilities. The cops advised the establishments to put up signages at all entry, exit, parking, and sitting areas warning the customers about the legal consequences of drunk driving.

It was also decided that all establishments must display educational messages prominently on their premises and also play audio and video messages frequently to alert their customers. The establishments were asked to declare "Prevention of Drunk Driving" as their policy and take up all necessary measures accordingly.

The establishments have been directed to install CCTV cameras in all public places on their premises. They were also informed to seek police help by dialling 100 in case any person started a quarrel or created problems while being prevented from driving drunk.

The representatives agreed to the guidelines issued by the Cyberabad police.
