Hyderabad: BC Commission chairman G Niranjan orders inquiry against teachers and staff of Chandrayangutta school

Hyderabad: Telangana Commission for Backward Classes chairman G Niranjan has asked BC Welfare Commissioner B Bala Maya Devi to conduct a detailed inquiry against the teachers and staff of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Girls School, Chandrayangutta, who were allegedly involved in physical abuse and mental torture to a girl student that forced to her attempt to end her life.

The BC commission chairman reacted to a complaint filed by the girl student’s father, G Nagaraju, and asked the officials to furnish a detailed report to the commission by January 30. Nagaraju is a labourer and native of Chinnadarupalli, Hanwada mandal in Mahabubnagar district. He has four children and Lavanya is his second daughter.

What are the allegations against the staff?

In his complaint, Nagaraju said that Lavanya secured a free seat in Class X and was staying in the hostel run by the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Girls School.

The distraught father said the teachers and staff insulted Lavanya by saying that she was not capable of pursuing education, and they even advised her classmates to shun her and isolate her from everyone. After Lavanya sustained severe injuries, the hostel warden rushed her to Ibrahimpatnam.

After being severely humiliated by the teachers and staff, Lavanya attempted suicide by jumping from the hostel building on November 9, 2024. From there she was shifted to Gandhi Hospital, Secunderabad, for treatment. Doctors, after examining her condition, performed surgery on her hip.

“For almost three months, my daughter has been suffering after being restricted to the bed, and there is no improvement in her health. I am appealing to the BC commission to initiate stern action against the school principal Latha and other faculty members and do justice to his daughter,” Nagaraju said in his complaint.
