Beyond Religion: Chilkur Temple priest gifts bull to Muslim farmer

Hyderabad: When the country is witnessing incidents of religious polarisation, a temple priest in Telangana helped a Muslim family in distress.

Continuing its tradition of helping farmers in distress, the Chilkur Balaji temple gifted a bull to farmer Mohd Ghouse in Chilkur village who had lost his bull due to electrocution. The priest said that humanity does not encompass differences in religion, caste or creed and to help a fellow human being is service to the Almighty.

This is not the first time the Chilkur Balaji Temple has helped farmers in need.

A few years ago, Anjiah – a farmer from Pedda Mangalaram village, Moinabad, Rangareddy district – was gifted bulls after he lost two buffaloes due to electrocution.

In the last couple of years, moved by the plight of farmers whose cattle died of electrocution, lightning or any other accident, the chief priest of Chilkur Temple, CS Rangarajan, with the help of Go-seva enthusiast Pavan Kumar, helped several farmers across the Telangana State.

Earlier, the Chilkur Balaji temple had given a cow to a farmer from Siddipet who lost his cattle due to electrocution. A few farmers from the neighbouring villages also received bulls. The chief priest also urged the public to participate in similar charity endeavours so that such farmers in distress can be helped.

Farmers consider a cow, bull or buffalo as family members and the death of cattle pushes them into financial problems, Rangarajan said. The senior priest from the temple has urged people to participate in the ‘Gift a Cattle’ campaign to support farmers.
