By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 8 Aug 2024 1:52 PM GMTHyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu has advised the electricity department officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply across Hyderabad as multinational companies are coming forward to invest in pharma, biotech and other service sectors here.
On Thursday, Vikramarka convened a review meeting with all senior officers of TGSPDCL under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits at the TGSPDCL meeting hall here.
Speaking to the media after the review meeting, Bhatti said that the electricity department staff in all areas have been alerted about the possibility of electricity wires bending due to severe winds during the monsoon.
Make 1912 helpline number popular, says deputy CM
āSimilar to how widely known the emergency 108 number is, officials should also promote the 1912 helpline number on all platforms, which has been established to serve the electricity consumers and address their grievances on time,ā he added.
āThe electricity personnel should expand their services according to the changing times as unexpected power failures can cause problems,ā Bhatti said and asked officials to create a well-functioning campaign for the staff and use social media to stay in touch with consumers.
The deputy CM said, āAn action plan will be prepared for customers to know about the department and its functioning. We are ready to listen to the plight of people. The officials should also come up with a plan regarding the transfers in the department.ā
āMake space for electric poles while constructing homesā
To avoid having no space near homes to install transformers and electricity poles, the deputy CM asked the officials to allocate necessary space at the time of permitting the construction of the house.
The deputy CM also said that chief minister Revanth Reddy and Industries minister Sridhar Babu, who are touring the United States, are holding discussions with investors to set up units in Telangana. And in return, the investors are asking for quality electricity, law and order, and drinking water.
Companies asking for assurances about uninterrupted power
āThe State government is making all efforts to attract investors to Hyderabad and is ensuring that there will be no trouble and life will be comfortable for them. If quality electricity is provided without interruptions, the industries and the government will prosper and the GDP will increase automatically,ā Bhatti Vikramarka said.
Reacting to the collapse of a retaining wall at the under-construction Sunkishala pump house, the deputy CM expressed his ire against the reports published in vernacular media. He said that the Sunkishala pump house was built in Nagarjunasagar backwater in Nalgonda district and was started on July 11, 2021, by the previous BRS government and the tunnel side wall was completed in July 2023.
āWe thought that only Kaleshwaram, Medigadda and Sundilla projects built by them were substandard and the rest were good until yesterday,ā Bhatti said and added that an investigation would be conducted by the officials and those proven guilty would be punished.
