Bihar native mails fake bomb threats to RGIA from Bengaluru, held

Hyderabad: Shamshabad police arrested a person for sending a fake bomb threat to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. The person has been identified as Vaibhav Thivari (34), a native of Bihar and working in Bangalore as an IT employee.

Case details

As per police records, on February 15 at 7 am, the accused sent a fake mail to the Lost and Found section of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport from his mail id wherein he wrote “Please don’t open international airport doors the hijacker are using compliance to murder you”.

On Sunday too, Vaibhav sent a threat to the airport saying “You should have studied better in your country. These people are murderer and use hijacking defense human air force and vehicle technology etc.”

Upon investigation, on Sunday, the Shamshabad police apprehended the accused in Bangalore and brought him to the police station. On interrogation, he voluntarily confessed to having committed this offence.

During the interrogation, Vaibhav told the police that he worked in the IT field from 2012 to 2020. However, he fell ill during Covid and lost his job. Ever since he has been in depression and without a job. In that mood, he wrote the threat emails to RGIA and other public places.
