Biker trying to escape traffic challan crashes into RTC bus in Balanagar, dies
Hyderabad: A biker rider was killed in a collision with an RTC bus while trying to evade a traffic challan. The incident occurred at Indira Gandhi Nagar within Balanagar PS limits on Sunday at 12:30 pm.
The bike rider, Joshu Babu, was stopped by traffic police constable A Gopal for a traffic challan at a routine traffic check. Joshu Babu tried to evade the check and, in that hurry, hit another bike and subsequently was hit by an RTC bus, resulting in his demise.
Cops dismiss rumours that traffic constable was drunk
Some news articles are circulating in the media and social media that the traffic constable was in a drunken state and that he assaulted Joshu Babu before the collision. A breath analyser test and blood test were taken of the traffic constable, and there was no alcohol found in his blood.
In video footage available with police, which was also shared with the family members of the deceased, the constable did not assault the biker.
A case u/s 106(1) of BNS at Balanagar police station, Cyberabad, has been registered in the matter, and a detailed investigation will be undertaken. Necessary action will be taken on the officers concerned after enquiry, the police said.
