Hyderabad: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) raided popular toy stores in the city, including Hamleys and Just For U, and seized toys that were being sold without the ISI mark in violation of the Toys (Quality Control) Order 2020.
Based on credible information, BIS on Thursday raided Just For U and Toy Kingdom located in the City Center Mall in Banjara Hills and Hamleys in PVR Next Galleria, Punjagutta, and seized 217 non-electric toys and 49 electric toys.
Action is being initiated against the offenders under the BIS Act 2016. Any person who contravenes the provisions of Section 17 shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend up to two years or with a fine which shall not be less than Rs. 2 lakh for the first contravention and not less than Rs. 5 lakh for the second and subsequent contraventions, the BIS said in a statement.
