BJP MLA Raja Singh's case adjourned to 31 Oct

Additional advocate general Mujeeb Kumar Sadasivuni informed the court that recently the PD Act Advisory Board has given its report supporting the decision of the Hyderabad police on invoking the PD Act against Raja Singh.

Hyderabad: A Telangana High Court Division Bench comprising Justice A. Abhishek Reddy and Justice Juvvadi Sridevi on Friday heard the plea filed by BJP MLA Raja Singh's wife T. Usha Bai seeking to quash the "illegal" Preventive Detention order against the MLA.

Further, Mrs. Usha Bai submitted to set aside the PD Act which is imposed on Raja Singh as it violates Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution besides the guidelines as contemplated in the Preventive Detention Act.

Additional advocate general Mujeeb Kumar Sadasivuni informed the court that recently the PD Act Advisory Board has given its report supporting the decision of the Hyderabad police on invoking the PD Act against Raja Singh.

Further, the additional advocate general submitted the PD Act Advisory Board's report to the court. Moreover, he informed the court that subsequently, a GO was issued invoking the PD Act against Raja Singh and the detention was extended for 12 months, and still, the GO is not challenged by the petitioner.

On behalf of the petitioner Mrs. T. Usha Bai, senior counsel N. Ramchander Rao informed the court that he may be permitted to argue the matter. Detenue T. Raja Singh is a public representative and so many lacunae are there in the detention order which has been invoked against Raja Singh by the government.

Additional advocate general Mujeeb Kumar Sadasivuni informed the court that advocate general Banda Shivananda Prasad will argue the matter and seek an adjournment for a few days.
