BJP MLA Ramana seeks HC action on illegal constructions causing ecological harm in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, the BJP MLA of the Kamareddy Assembly Constituency, has urged the Telangana High Court to take stringent action against private construction companies, which are illegally raising massive residential projects on water bodies.

Through the PIL filed on Thursday, the MLA told the court that constructing huge complexes, apartments, villas by encroaching public roads, lands, lakes/ponds/kuntas and other water bodies is a violation of the Telangana Water Land and Trees Act.

Major companies involved

“The layouts, laid without permissions, by the private companies are becoming huge constructions in Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts. The GHMC, HMDA and HYDRAA have become mute spectators to such illegalities, despite written representations given to them, seeking stringent action against them,” the petitioner said.

The Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Government, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Commissioner, GHMC, Metropolitan Commissioner, HMDA, HYDRAA, represented by its Commissioner, Chairman, Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority, District Collectors, Hyderabad, RR District and Medchal-Malkajgiri Districts, VC & MD, TIICL and the three private construction companies viz., The Prestige City, Hyderabad, the Vajram Ixora, the Praneeth Pranav Grove Park and the Phoenix 285D are respondents to the PIL.
