Blade, nails, tape: Doctors remove sharp objects from Chanchalguda prisoners stomach

Hyderabad: Medical professionals at Osmania General Hospital successfully removed nails, a shaving blade, and tape from the stomach of a 21-year-old prisoner. The prisoner Mohammed Sohail was admitted to the hospital earlier this month with severe stomach pain. He was lodged in Chanchalguda jail.

The incident unfolded when the escort police of Chanchalguda Jail brought Sohail on January 8 to Osmania Hospital after he complained of intense abdominal discomfort. The doctors were astounded to discover objects, including nails, shaving blades, and tape in his stomach.

The medical team, led by gastroenterologist Dr. B. Rameshkumar, conducted an X-ray that revealed the presence of two nails, a shaving blade, and other small items in the prisoner's stomach. Acting swiftly, the doctors decided to perform an endoscopy procedure to extract the items.

On Tuesday, Dr. Rameshkumar and his team successfully removed the objects from Sohail's stomach through the endoscopic procedure. The superintendent of Osmania Hospital, Dr. B. Nagender, reported that the patient's health is now stable.

However, the motive behind Sohail swallowing such dangerous items remains a mystery. Despite questioning, the prisoner has not disclosed when or why he ingested the nails, shaving blade, and tape.
