Bomb scare in Charminar? Police say routine check, no threat

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Charminar on Monday after a bomb squad conducted checks near the monument and surrounding areas. No bomb was found. It was reported on social media that the police received a fake call regarding a bomb threat.

Refuting the claims, DCP south zone Sai Chaitanya confirmed to NewsMeter that the checks were routine.

As part of the protocol, the police cleared the shops and other street vendors to complete the checks.


A few days ago, a man named Md. Akbar Khan had made a hoax call saying there was a bomb planted in Santosh Nagar. He was booked under sections 182 and 186 of the IPC and 70(b) of the City Police Act at Saidabad police station and given 18 days imprisonment.
