By Newsmeter Network Published on 16 Nov 2022 8:45 AM GMTHyderabad: Tension for a brief time period broke out in the city when Hyderabad Police Control Room got a call on Tuesday night at 9:15 pm stating that there is a bomb planted in Santosh Nagar.
SHO Saidabad K Subbirami Reddy told NewsMeter that upon receiving the call, the bomb squad and dogs immediately swung into action. "The area was barricaded but we found nothing," he said.
Upon tracing the call, the police found Md Akbar khan, a resident of Santosh Nagar, making a hoax call following skirmishes with his wife. " Unable to bear his harassment, the wife left home and moved to Choutuppal. Akbar wanted to create a ruckus and thus made a bomb hoax call," Reddy said.
A case has been booked under the Indian Penal Code Sections 182, 186 and 70(b) City Police act at PS Saidabad. The accused has been convicted of 18 days imprisonment.
Earlier this year, in May, a 22-year-old dialled 100 and asked the police to arrange two bottles of beer for him. Janigala Madhu, 22, a school dropout, argued that the police are addressing people's needs and arranging for him alcohol will be one such deed.
SI Doultabad police station V Ramesh Kumar said a case was registered against him and he was counselled not to indulge in such acts. "Dial 100 is an emergency helpline. We request people to not misuse it and call for genuine needs," he added.
In another incident in May, a tipsy man was arrested for pestering police after his wife refused to cook mutton for him on Holi.
The bizarre incident took place in the Nalgonda district. Naveen of Cherla Gouraram village in Kanagal Mandal dialed 100 not once but six times to complain about his wife.
