Hyderabad: We have great news for those who borrow books from friends and never return them.
Bookchor, a platform that promotes the purchase of old and used books, is conducting a four-day book fair named Lock The Box in Hyderabad. With thousands of books, it’s the ideal spot to indulge your inner bibliophile while saving your friends’ books.
“The much-anticipated Bookchor’s book fair is a must-attend event for bibliophiles in Hyderabad looking to stock their shelves with their favourite reads. The unique Lock The Box feature from Bookchor allows avid readers to curate their own box of books to lighten up their book collection,” stated co-founder Vidyut Sharma.
The book fair is scheduled at Satva Necklace Mall, at TankBund Road, Kavaguda, Secunderabad from July 14 to 23 from 10 am to 11 pm. Last year’s book festival in Hyderabad was a smashing success, with over 10,000 people and over 4 lakh volumes sold.
About the Lock The Box Sale
Bookchor, also known as the Lock The Box Sale, will have a selection of 90,000 volumes. All you have to do is show up at the site with zeal and choose a box from the three options to fit as many books as you can in it.
“In this one-of-a-kind book fair, we don’t pay by total weight or total quantity of volumes. Instead, we buy a box and fill it with books as much as the flap can seal flat. There are three sizes of boxes named after Greek heroes,” recalled Sahithi Yalagandala, an avid reader and a Lock The Box veteran.
Odysseus Box (a lightweight box priced at Rs 999 can accommodate 8-9 books), Perseus Box (priced at Rs 1,499 can accommodate 15-17 volumes), and Hercules Box (the biggest one priced at Rs 2,499 can contain 28-30 books).
A large variety of selections
The warehouse sale is open to all readers. It has a huge selection of books ranging from fiction to poetry, biographies to rarities. If you wish to come across any lesser-known writers or uncommon treasures, this is the place to go.
The collection is believed to contain a wide range of literature, including periodicals, children’s art books, technical books, biographies, and encyclopedias, as well as a Japanese (Romaji) to English dictionary. Popular titles include Think and Grow Rich, The Hunger Games trilogy, a handful of Dan Brown books, Pride and Prejudice, and so on.
“We have been going to this fare every year since it began. My sons and I love to read and it makes such a good trip for us to browse to the variety of books and fill our box with our favourites. It is a great initiative because we can find books of different genres and authors under the same roof and all of us get our fair share of what we want,” said Dr Sameena Ali, dental surgeon, avid reader, and member of the Die Hard Book Club.
Make a Note
Depending on your packing abilities, you should be able to bring home enough books. Even if you put a comic or two among small reads, the regular package will hold at least 10-11 volumes. You only need to calculate the odds and box them correctly. That is achievable!
