The drug peddler among the accused has been identified as Kunchala Nagaraju alias Nagraj (34). His associates are Ashagouni Vinod Kumar Goud alias Vinod (32) and Kunti Srishailam alias Srishailam (42). The drug manufacturer in the case has been identified as Gosukonda Anji Reddy, who has been in judicial custody.
Case details
In 2007, Nagaraju, who is from Qutbullahpur, met businessman Anji Reddy who gave him contracts for civil works at his function halls, factories and godowns. Anji Reddy was also manufacturing the amphetamine in the same places.
When Nagaraju came to know that Anji Reddy was selling the drug to toddy shops and needy persons and earning easy money, he wanted a part of it.
In June 2024, at his unit at Bonthapally village, Anji Reddy gave Nagaraju three plastic transparent packets containing the drug and instructed him to conceal them until he needed them. This was Nagarajuās introduction to the drug business.
Soon, both began to sell the drug and earn profits. However, Anji Reddy was caught by the Gummadidala police who raided his drug manufacturing unit in Kothapally village and seized the contraband.
Anji Reddyās arrest put Kunchala Nagaraju in a financial crisis. So, he hatched a plan along with Vinod Kumar and Srishailam to sell the amphetamine in Hyderabad.
On August 25, the three accused, along with the contraband came to Hyderabad to sell the drug. On reaching Pillar No 44, Dairy Farm Road in Bowenpally, the HNEW staff along with Bowenpally Police apprehended them and seized the contraband.
Apart from the amphetamine, the police also seized the car they were in and their mobile phones. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
