Hyderabad: Telangana High Court will pronounce judgment in petition challenging the election of BRS minister V Srinivas Goud from the Mahabubnagar assembly constituency in 2018 on October 9.

The petition was filed by Chaluvagali Raghavendra Raju of Mahabubnagar in April 2019.

The petitioner sought a direction to declare the election of V. Srinivas Goud null and void on the ground that he suppressed and concealed information in Form- -26 in violation of the Representation of People’s Act and election rules.

The petitioner contended that V. Srinivas Goud has suppressed information regarding immovable property acquired by his wife, a mortgage loan of Rs. 12 lakh obtained from Grameena Vikas Bank, Mahabubnaga. He said other bank accounts of his wife were concealed in the affidavit furnished before the Returning Officer.

He said Srinivas Goud committed malpractice in collusion with the Returning Officer. He alleged that Goud replaced the affidavit submitted in Form No. 26 along with nomination papers, which were found defective.

Chaluvagali Raghavendra Raju approached the Special Court for MPs & MLAs, Nampally Hyderabad with a private complaint, seeking a direction to the SHO, Mahabubnagar district to register a case against V. Srinivas Goud under section 156(3) of CrPC. He sought an investigation into changing the election affidavit before the Returning Officer, Mahabubnagar.

On the directions of the Lower Court, II Town Mahabubnagar police station registered an FIR against V. Srinivas Goud and the other accused.
