Building in Cyberabad? Here are new rules on dust, pollution and debris you must follow

Hyderabad: From controlling dust and air pollution to the proper disposal of construction debris, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) has rolled out a set of robust guidelines that must be mandatorily followed by all construction projects.

These measures were finalised during a high-level meeting on Thursday, with participation from the CMC Commissioner Dr G Srijana IAS and representatives from leading builder associations, including NAREDCO, CREDAI and the Telangana Developers Association.

What are the changes?

To ensure safe and environmentally sound urban growth, the CMC has outlined the following mandatory requirements for all ongoing and upcoming projects:

1. Environmental and Pollution Control: Builders are now strictly required to implement active measures to minimise air and dust pollution. Furthermore, all construction activities must adhere to prescribed noise pollution norms.

2. Safety and Debris Management: Proper safety precautions must be enforced at every construction site. Additionally, all construction debris must be handed over only to designated or authorised agencies for disposal.

3. Buffer Zone Development: Developers must develop buffer zones in strict accordance with the original sanctioned plans for their projects.

4. Occupancy Certificate (OC) Protocols: The CMC has mandated that applications for Partial Occupancy Certificates will only be accepted after the building is fully completed as per the approved plan. Compliance with GO 168 is now a strictly enforced requirement.

5. Cooperation with Authorities: Builders are expected to maintain full transparency and cooperation with municipal authorities throughout the construction phase and during the processing of their Occupancy Certificates.

‘Not suggestions but compulsory rules’

The CMC Commissioner emphasised that these rules are not suggestions but mandatory standards.

The corporation’s primary focus remains on ensuring that the region's rapid infrastructure development does not come at the cost of public safety or environmental integrity. All developers are urged to align their current and future projects with these regulatory standards immediately.
