Hyderabad: A GHMC staffer was killed after he was hit by a cab at Banjara Hills in the wee hours of Thursday. The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Kiran. According to the Banjara Hills police, the incident happened at 12:45 am on Thursday when the GHMC worker was watering the plants on the divider.
"The cab driver was coming from the Panjagutta side after picking up a passenger, a software engineer. Apparently, the driver of the car didn't see the GHMC staffer standing on the road," said K Nageshwar Rao, SHO of Banjara Hills Police Station.
"The GHMC worker was watering plants on the divider in front of the Park Hyatt Hotel. Usually, the GHMC takes up watering of plants on the road during the night hours because of less traffic," said SHO Banjara Hills.
Banjara Hills police have taken the cab driver into custody and have registered a case under Section 304 A of IPC (causing death by negligence). The SHO also confirmed that the investigation is underway to find out if the driver was drunk or overspeeding.
