Hyderabad: On Sunday, at around 8:30 am, a cable connecting to the Transco substation in Miyapur caught fire, leading to an unexpected power disruption affecting thousands of consumers.

As a result of the fire, the power supply was interrupted for over 20,000 consumers for 15-20 minutes. While investigations are ongoing, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of sabotage, considering the unusual nature of the incident.

The incident, deemed rare as the connection was considered the least vulnerable, caused interruptions to approximately 6-7 subsequent substations and disrupted over 50 feeders.

“At around 8:30 am on Sunday, a cable connecting to the Transco substation in Miyapur caught fire. It is very rare since the connection is the least vulnerable. This accident has caused power interruption to close to 6-7 subsequent substations. Over 50 feeders were disrupted, resulting in power interruption to over 20,000 consumers for 15-20 minutes. This occurrence is quite rare and we cannot dismiss the suspicion of sabotage. Power has been restored in these affected areas through alternative supply,” a top official told NewsMeter.

Efforts were swiftly undertaken to restore power in the affected areas through alternative supply methods. While the incident caused temporary inconvenience to consumers, authorities are working diligently to ensure the stability and reliability of the power grid in the region.
