Centre to mark Telangana Formation Day with ‘Qila Aur Kahaniya’ at Golconda Fort

The event will be inaugurated on 2 June by Union minister Kishan Reddy who will hoist the Indian flag. It will be open to the general public as well

Hyderabad: Centre for the first time will hold celebrations to mark the 10th Telangana Formation Day at the Golconda Fort on 2 June.

The Central Ministry of Culture has been assigned as the nodal ministry for organising the campaigns “Qila Aur Kahaniya” and “Wonder Caves” to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the aegis of the theme ‘Cultural Pride’ and Telangana Formation Day.

On Thursday, Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy visited Golconda Fort to review the preparations underway for the 10th Telangana Formation Day. “This celebration is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to commemorate the legacy of martyrs who were part of the statehood movement and to celebrate the rich culture of Telangana,” he said.


Golconda Fort under the Archaeological Survey of India, Hyderabad Circle has been approved for the celebration of “Qila Aur Kahaniya” in collaboration with the South Zone Cultural Centre (SZCC). This also coincides with the Telangana formation day. The event is scheduled to be organised for two days — 2 and 3 June.

The event will be inaugurated on 2 June by Mr. Kishan Reddy who will hoist the Indian flag. It will be open to the general public as well.

This will be followed by the inauguration of photo exhibitions set up by various departments under the ministry of culture, Telangana.

In the evening, a cultural festival will be conducted with performances by Bharatanatyam guru Manjula Ramaswamy and her group, Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant and her group, renowned singers Shankar Mahadevan, Mangli, and Madhupriya.

On 3 June, the festival will continue and in the evening, once again visitors will get a chance to witness the spectacular cultural event which will mark the closing of the festival.

Entry to Golconda Fort in Hyderabad will be free on both days.
