Celebrations turned into mourning on Friday when three teenagers going to a birthday party died in a motorcycle crash at Chevella in Rangareddy district.

The victims were identified as Harizan Jayavardhan (16), Vishnuvardhan (16) and K Prasad (16), all residents of Devuniyerravally village.
Police said they were returning home after buying a birthday cake for Harizan Jayavardhan. The birthday boy was one of the victims.
Police said the mishap occurred around 7:15 pm on Friday when Jayavardhan along with his friends, was returning home after buying a birthday cake. The friends were planning to have birthday celebrations at home.
When they reached Shankarpally ā Chevella road, a rashly driven vehicle hit their bike. They fell on the road and died on the spot. None of them was wearing a helmet. It is yet to be ascertained if they lost control of the bike and fell off, or if another vehicle caused the crash, police said.
On receiving information, the Chevella police visited the spot and took up an investigation. Footage gathered from various surveillance cameras are being examined to trace the vehicle involved in the crash. The bodies were shifted to the government hospital for autopsy.
The bike was registered in the name of Ramoju Srinivasa Chary and had an unpaid challan of Rs 875 since 2015. A case has been registered. Police said the vehicle owner will be summoned for allowing minors to ride the motorbike.
