Citizen Journalism: How Swachh Sena is working to eliminate GVPs in Kapra Circle

On Thursday, Ex-Serviceman (ESM) Naveen, who retired from Army Service Corps (ASC), was in for a pleasant surprise as the GHMC Commissioner Ronal Rose came to inspect the elimination process of GVP (Garbage Vulnerable Points) in Kapra Circle.
Naveen, who is now part of the Swachh Sena, has been working assiduously in the Kapra circle for the past 7 months. With the active support of the Assistant Medical Officer of Health (AMOH) Dr Sapna Reddy, Naveen ensured 100% availability of Swachh Autos for the maximum number of days in June and July.
GHMC Commissioner Ronald Rose gave a cash prize of Rs 10,000 and complimented the team including Zonal Commissioner Pankaja, DC Mukund Reddy, AMOH Dr Sapna Reddy, SFA, and ESM Naveen for their good work.
He was apprised about tree plantation and providing benches. Officials also briefed him about linking every house with Swachh Auto which enabled the elimination of a 30-year-old Garbage dumping point.
At the instance of the Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao, a team of Ex-Servicemen, Swachh Sena has been deployed across 30 circles of GHMC. Besides monitoring SAT (Swachh Auto Tippers), Swachh Sena ensures that GHMC teams eliminate GVPs every day.
After GHMC Commissioner Ronal Roseās review, the elimination of GVPs has been taken up on priority. With inputs from Swachh Sena and field teams, Additional Commissioner Upender Reddy has chalked out a Short Term Action plan to deliver the GHMC agenda of āTotal Elimination of GVPsā. Immediate on the radar are the main road GVPs which are being eliminated on priority.
