Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police on 20 April directed all shops, restaurants, and bars under its limits to shut down by 8 p.m. This comes after the Telangana government imposed a night curfew in the state from Tuesday till 30 April.
The Rachakonda commissioner, Mahesh M. Bhagwat, advised people to follow the curfew rules. He said the night curfew will remain active from 9 p.m to 5 a.m from 20 to 30 April. Forty-six check-posts, along with patrol mobiles and blue colts, will be in place in Rachakonda to ensure strict implementation of the curfew, he added.
Hospitals, diagnostic centres, pharmacies, telecommunications, broadcasting services, online delivery services, IT services, and a few others are exempted from the curfew. Also, Central and state government employees are exempted. However, they will have to carry their identity proofs during the curfew time.
Mr. Bhagwat said those who violate curfew rules will be punished under various sections of the Disaster Management Act and the IPC. A fine of Rs. 1,000 will be imposed against those not wearing face masks in public, he added. He instructed everyone to maintain social distance and use sanitizer. Since the COVID-19 positive cases are increasing rapidly, the commissioner advised the citizens to get vaccinated as per their eligibility schedule.
