Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered that the land originally allotted to Sharada Peetham in Kokapet will continue to remain with the Peetham, cancelling its recent allocation to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewage Board (HMWSSB).
The move comes after representatives of the Peetham apprised the Chief Minister of ongoing construction activities on the land.
The Chief Minister also expressed strong displeasure over officials for not informing him about the status of the constructions before reallocating the land.
Allocation to HMWSSB cancelled
According to official sources, a portion of land earlier allotted to Sharada Peetham in Kokapet was subsequently allocated to the HMWSSB.
Following objections raised by Peetham representatives, the matter was brought to the Chief Minister’s attention, prompting an immediate review.
After examining the issue, the Chief Minister directed that the allocation made to Water Board be cancelled and ordered that the land should continue under the control of Sharada Peetham.
CM seeks details on construction status
At a review meeting held at the State Secretariat with senior officials, the Chief Minister sought details regarding the various construction works being undertaken under the auspices of the Peetham on the Kokapet land.
Officials briefed him on the developments, following which he expressed dissatisfaction over the failure to communicate the status of ongoing works before taking a decision to reallocate the land.
Direction to coordinate with Minister
The Chief Minister advised the representatives of Sharada Peetham to meet Minister Sridhar Babu and explain the nature of the constructions and other relevant circumstances in detail to ensure better coordination going forward.
The decision is expected to bring clarity to the issue and put to rest concerns raised by the Peetham over the future of the Kokapet land.
