Health Advisory: Stay Vigilant
As the cold intensifies, doctors have advised certain precautions, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with underlying health conditions like hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
• Morning walks should be avoided to minimize exposure to extreme cold.
• Woollen clothing, including monkey caps and hand gloves, should be used to protect ears, noses, and hands.
• Alcohol consumption should be avoided, as it lowers body temperature.
• Ensure proper ventilation when using heating devices to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Telangana health department also emphasized the risks posed by the cold wave, including hypothermia, frostbite, chilblains, and respiratory infections.
Precautions against Respiratory Risks
The chilly weather increases the likelihood of seasonal flu and other respiratory infections. Individuals experiencing severe cold symptoms or persistent respiratory issues are urged to seek medical advice promptly.
No Rain Expected Till Mid-January
The IMD Hyderabad further noted that dry weather conditions are likely to prevail over Hyderabad and Telangana till at least January 15, with no rain in the forecast.
Residents are encouraged to follow safety measures and stay updated on weather alerts to avoid health risks during this cold spell.
