Colder mornings, sweltering afternoons: Hyderabad weather takes unpredictable twists in Feb

Hyderabad: Weather in Hyderabad has taken an unpredictable turn this February, offering residents a rollercoaster of temperatures from colder mornings to sweltering afternoons.

“The month's coldest morning was marked on Friday, with the average minimum temperature dropping to 17 degrees Celsius, below the typical 18.8 degrees Celsius for this time of year,” said weatherman Balaji.

Residents of Rajendranagar experienced the chilliest start, with the area recording the lowest minimum temperature of the day at 15 degrees Celsius. Localities like Begumpet, Malkajgiri, Karwan, Kapra, Alwal, Jubilee Hills, Chandrayangutta, and Kukatpally also felt the brisk breezes and cool temperatures during the early hours.

However, as the day unfolded, Hyderabadis found themselves shedding layers as temperatures soared to summer-like levels. The Karwan locality peaked at 35.8 degrees Celsius, closely followed by Moosapet at 35.3 degrees Celsius. Khairatabad and Begumpet recorded temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius, signaling the loosening grip of winter and the onset of warmer days.

This distinctive pattern of cold mornings and hot afternoons is expected to persist over the weekend, according to meteorological experts. The contrast in temperatures has become a notable feature of this February, keeping residents on their toes as they navigate between chilly mornings and warm afternoons.

Drastic temperature fluctuations were not limited to Hyderabad alone, as districts witnessed a significant drop in minimum temperatures.

On Friday, Nagarkurnool experienced a minimum temperature of 10.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Mahabubnagar at 10.8 degrees Celsius. Simultaneously, maximum temperatures rose dramatically, with Khammam recording 37.9 degrees Celsius, Nagarkurnool at 37.8 degrees Celsius, and Vikarabad at 37.6 degrees Celsius.

Meteorological data suggests that this weather pattern is likely to persist over the weekend in the state, maintaining the trend of fluctuating temperatures that have characterized this February. Residents are advised to adapt to this unpredictable weather by being prepared for both chilly mornings and warmer afternoons.
