Hyderabad Comic Con 2024 opens doors to pop culture fans

Hyderabad: Much-awaited Hyderabad Comic Con 2024 opened its doors to pop culture fans on Day 1 at the Hitex Exhibition Centre.

Enthusiasts from across the city gathered to celebrate a blend of comics, anime, gaming, and entertainment. The event, marking the start of this yearā€™s Comic Con India tour, promises an unforgettable weekend for fans of all ages.




Comic Book Debuts and Special Sessions

The Creatorā€™s Cut was a major attraction, showcasing comic book debuts by Holy Cow Entertainment, Bullseye Press, and Savio Mascarenhas. One of the highlights was the launch of The Adventures of Kikiboo, which received an enthusiastic response from attendees.

Fans were also treated to exclusive sessions by Amar Chitra Katha and Crunchyroll, diving into the world of Indian mythology and anime storytelling.

A representative from Amar Chitra Katha said, ā€œItā€™s wonderful to see such a huge interest in Indian stories. Platforms like Comic Con help us connect with a new generation of readers.ā€

Cosplay, Comedy, and Performances

The Indian Championship of Cosplay 2024 (Hyderabad Qualifier) added vibrant energy to the day. Cosplayers brought iconic characters to life, competing for a chance to win the ultimate title.

Music and comedy kept the atmosphere lively, with a standout performance by the Daisuki Cosplay Band, delivering an engaging anime playlist. Later, comedian Azeem Banatwalla and The Internet Said So crew had the audience laughing with their sharp wit.




Gaming Extravaganza: DreamHack India 2024

Day 1 of DreamHack India 2024 launched alongside Comic Con with an electric opening ceremony. International DJ Evdokiia set the stage with a high-energy performance.

Fans were also captivated by esports competitions, including the Snapdragon Pro Series, Pan Fest, and KO Fight Night stages.

The Meet & Greet Zone was a crowd favorite, with popular Indian gaming icons like Ketan Patel (K18), Harmandeep Singh (Mavi), and Ankkita Chauhan (AnkkitaC) interacting with fans.

ā€œItā€™s heartwarming to meet people who share the same passion for gaming,ā€ said K18.

Whatā€™s Next?

Day 2 (Nov 16) promises more excitement, with appearances from gaming influencers such as Raj Varma (Snax), Parv Singh (Regaltos), Payal Dhare (Payal Gaming), and Monika Jeph (Sherlock). Attendees can also look forward to additional cosplay contests, gaming events, and special sessions.
