Hyderabad: The North Zone Police on Tuesday conducted Community Policing Day programs across all 11 police station jurisdictions, engaging over 1,600 students, residents and local citizens.

The programs aimed to raise awareness on cyber safety, drug abuse, road safety and civic responsibility.

DCP speaks on safety, mental health and online awareness

Deputy Commissioner of Police, North (Zone) S Rashmi Perumal visited St. Anthony’s Girls High School, Subash Road (Mahankali Police Station limits), and interacted with students on key issues such as mental health, bullying, drug abuse, cybercrime and physical safety.

She stressed the importance of recognising mental health issues, maintaining good health and seeking help when necessary.

Students were also educated on online safety, identifying cyber threats, and safeguarding personal information. The DCP encouraged healthy lifestyle choices while highlighting the dangers of drug abuse.

Zone-wide programs promote civic awareness

Under the DCP’s supervision and with the active participation of Additional DCPs, ACPs, inspectors, police staff, faculty members, and local citizens, awareness programs were conducted across schools, colleges, and community areas.

Sessions focused on DIAL 100 awareness, road safety, cybercrime prevention, and civic sense, empowering citizens to make informed decisions and contribute to safer communities.

Programs across police station jurisdictions

The awareness programs were organised at the following venues: Avinash College of Commerce (Gopalapuram), Ambedkar Nagar (Tukaramgate), Government Junior College (Marredpally), St. Anthony’s Girls High School (Mahankali), YMCA Junior College (Market), Westly Degree & PG College (Ramgopalpet), Multipurpose Community Hall, Patigadda (Begumpet).

Kites College, Bapujinagar (Bowenpally), Government High School, Mudfort (Karkhana), Bowenpally Market Yard (Trimulgherry), and Government Junior College, Bollaram (Bolarum).

Building safer communities

“Community Policing Day reinforces the North Zone Police’s commitment to creating safer neighbourhoods through direct engagement with citizens. By educating students and residents on critical issues, the initiative aims to cultivate responsible, aware, and empowered communities,” the DCP said.
