Construction of all new 39 STPs must start before Dasara, says HMWSSB chief
Hyderabad: HMWSSB managing director Ashok Reddy has directed officials to begin construction of all new sewage treatment plants (STPs) before Dasara, stressing war-footing execution under the AMRUT-2.0 scheme.
39 plants cleared under Rs 3,849-crore plan
The State Government has sanctioned administrative approval for 39 STPs with a combined capacity of 972 million litres per day (MLD) for Rs 3,849.10 crore in municipalities and municipal corporations abutting the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
‘Find alternative sites for disputed locations’
During a progress review at the HMWSSB head office on Thursday, Ashok Reddy asked engineers and contractors to finalise designs immediately wherever land is litigation-free.
For locations facing disputes, he instructed the Estate Officer to hold meetings with district collectors and identify alternative plots.

Compact technology for land-starved areas
The MD called for a technical study on advanced, space-saving treatment systems for sites where land is scarce. Officials were told to draw up clear timelines from project launch to commissioning and to complete soil tests without delay to avoid bottlenecks.

The locations identified for the STPs are:
STPs will come up at Ameenpur, Tellapur, ICRISAT, Ushkebavi, Bachuguda, Timakka Cheruvu, Gandhi Gudem, Peerzadiguda, Nagaram, Narsingi (ORR), Sangam (Bapughat), Hyder Shah Kote, Fatehnagar, Chitrapuri Colony, Hyderabad Public School, Meerpet, Masab Cheruvu, Kapra, Raviryala and Bonguluru, among other zones.
