Hyderabad: A case has been registered against MIM leader and Chandrayanagutta MLA, Akbaruddin Owaisi for making controversial remarks against a police officer.
He obstructed the duty of a police officer, and created enmity between two religious groups during a public meeting held as part of the general assembly election campaign.
A video capturing the incident has since gone viral on social media.
While campaigning in Moinbagh, under Santosh Nagar police station limits, on Tuesday night, Inspector Shivachandra requested Akbaruddin to conclude the campaign, citing the dwindling time. In response, Akbaruddin expressed his displeasure with the police officer.
He asserted that there was still time, emphasizing that he had a watch and would finish speaking. Akbaruddin continued his speech, criticizing the police and opposition parties.
The video depicting these remarks quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing political criticism.
Meanwhile, DCP Rohit Raju disclosed that a case has been registered under sections 353, 506, 153 (A), 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 125 of the Representation of the People (RP) Act. The investigation into the matter has been initiated.
