COVID treatment: Kapra Lifeline Hospital asked to pay Rs 32,893 for fleecing patient

Hyderabad: District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), Medchal Malkajgiri has directed the New Lifeline Hospital, Kapra, to return Rs 32,893 to a patient who was overcharged for COVID 19 treatment.

M Umesh was charged 89,000 for COVID treatment by the hospital. Later, he complained to the district medical authority about overcharging.

The DMHO said after scrutinizing the bill by the appropriate authority, an excess amount of Rs 32,893 was charged by the hospital.

"The hospital is directed to pay Rs 32,893 through Cheque/demand draft in favour of 'M Umesh' directly or through district registering authority/DMHO, immediately. If not action will be initiated against your Hospital as per above reference cited government orders and acts in force," said DMHO.
