Covid-19: Telangana gets 5L CorBEvax doses, vaccines to be available from 19 April
CorBEvax is approved by the Centre for heterologous administration
By Newsmeter Network Published on 18 April 2023 1:30 PM GMTHyderabad: Due to the increasing Covid-19 cases across India, the Telangana government has arranged for five lakhs CorBEvax doses for its citizens. The vaccine will be available from Wednesday at all government PHCs/UPHCs.
According to Telangana health officials, there has been an acute shortage of Covid-19 vaccine in India.
CorBEvax can be administered as a precautionary dose to those beneficiaries who have taken Covaxin or Covishield as the first and second doses.
CorBEvax is approved by the Centre for heterologous administration.
In a statement, the director of public health and family welfare, Dr. G. Srinivsa Rao, said the state government has made all arrangements to ensure uninterrupted availability of Covid vaccine to all the eligible citizens at all government Covid vaccination centres (i.e., PHCs/UPHCs). Those who have missed vaccine doses can take these at the public health centres in Telangana.
The public is requested to use this opportunity and ensure that all the left out and missing doses are taken.
According to the Union health ministry data on Tuesday, India recorded 7,633 new coronavirus infections. While the active cases have increased to 61,233, the death toll has increased to 5,31,152 with 11 deaths.
The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.47 crore (4,48,34,859) and the active cases now comprise 0.14% of the total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.68%.
As on 17 April, Telangana recorded around 8,43,003 Covid cases. The case fatality rate is at 0.49% while the recovery rate is at 99.48%. The death toll remains at 4,111 as no new deaths were recorded.
