CWC, Vijayabheri meetings in Hyderabad will be historic: Uttam

Hyderabad: Nalgonda MP and Central Election Committee (CEC) member Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the upcoming Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad on September 16 and the Vijayabheri meeting in Tukkuguda near Shamshabad Airport on September 17 will create history.

The police permission given by the Rachakonda Commissionerate has stated that there should be only 10,000 members at the event. A private land of 100 acres at Tukkuguda will be used by the Congress party for the public meeting. Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy visited the site on September 13 and inspected the arrangements for the mega meeting.

Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, along with AICC in-charge Manikrao Thakre, TPCC Strategy Committee chairman Prem Sagar Rao, and other prominent members, Uttam said the Congress party’s 130-year legacy would witness its first-ever CWC meeting in Hyderabad, a city that commemorates the 75th anniversary of its merger from the erstwhile Hyderabad State into the Indian Union.

Largest political meeting in India

The Congress public meeting on September 17 is said to be one of the largest political rallies in India. Senior Congress leaders from Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress chief ministers and other state leaders will be present.

“The party will release five guarantees which the party will duly honour,” said Uttam Kumar Reddy. The Congress will also distribute one crore guarantee cards to the people of Telangana, as a mark of their promises.

The Congress stood by its commitment by listing its numerous achievements, which include:

- granting statehood to Telangana

- Initiating crop loans for farmers nationwide

- Establishing the historic National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) for labourers

- Introducing the Right to Information (RTI) Act to ensure transparency in governance

- Implementing the Food Security Act, ensuring that no citizen goes hungry

- Championing the Right to Education Act, emphasising education for all

Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed to Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka governments as examples where the Congress had fulfilled all its guarantees within the first 100 days of coming to power. “This track record testifies to the party’s unwavering dedication to the well-being of its citizens and the nation’s progress,” he said.

‘Will win more than 70 seats in TS’

Stating that it is very clear that there is a silent wave sweeping across Telangana in favour of Congress, Uttam expressed confidence that the Congress party will win more than 70 seats in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections.

He attributed Congress' future win to the misgovernance, corruption, and arrogance of the present BRS government. He also highlighted the alleged secret alliance between the BJP and the ruling BRS party. “The BJP’s visible retreat in Telangana, seemingly to enhance BRS’s electoral prospects, won’t escape the notice of Telangana’s astute citizens, especially the minorities,” he remarked, voicing confidence in their discernment.

The Nalgonda MP appealed to the people of Telangana to turn out in massive numbers for the Vijayabheri meeting, demonstrating their steadfast support for the Congress party.
