Cyberabad IT corridor to get skywalk: Raidurg Metro–T-Hub pedestrian project aims to cut traffic by 30%

Hyderabad: To improve pedestrian safety and ease chronic traffic congestion in Cyberabad’s busiest IT corridor, authorities have proposed a dedicated skywalk from Raidurgam Metro Station to T-Hub.

The project is expected to reduce traffic congestion along the stretch by nearly 30 per cent.

On Monday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh inspected the stretch to finalise the alignment.

High-footfall IT corridor under focus

The proposed skywalk will run from Raidurgam Metro Station, passing the IKEA flyover and IOCL junction, up to T-Hub, one of the most heavily used office and transit corridors in Cyberabad.

Officials said the stretch witnesses intense pedestrian movement throughout the day due to the presence of large IT campuses, commercial establishments and Metro connectivity, often resulting in traffic bottlenecks and safety risks.

Safe, continuous walkable network planned

The inspection focused on identifying pedestrian conflict zones and congestion points, to develop a safe and uninterrupted walkway for commuters accessing offices, Metro stations and business hubs.

Officials said the skywalk, along with proposed pedestrian tunnels at key locations, would enable safe road crossings while allowing smoother vehicular movement on the surface.

Phase-I skywalk and underpass proposal

Under Phase I, a 500-metre-long skywalk is proposed along the corridor. In addition, plans are being prepared for a 400-metre underpass connecting T-Hub with Mindspace C-Gate to improve last-mile connectivity for officegoers.

PPP model with industry participation

The project is being developed with the support of the SCSC in collaboration with multiple private stakeholders.

Officials said a convergence meeting with industry bodies and senior civic and government departments will be held shortly to finalise technical and financial aspects.

The projects are proposed to be implemented under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model.

Approvals and monitoring mechanism

Proposals will be submitted to the State government through the Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA) and the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC).

The progress of the project will be reviewed periodically through coordination meetings involving the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), TGIIC and IALA.

Senior police and traffic officials, along with representatives of SCSC and major corporate stakeholders, were present during the site visit.

Representatives from Raheja Mindspace, Sattva Group, Divyasree and Phoenix Group participated, along with SCSC CEO Naved Khan. Senior traffic officials from Kukatpally, Serilingampally, Madhapur and Raidurgam divisions also took part in the inspection.
