Cyberabad police ask schools to encourage bus travel, carpooling to curb peak-hour traffic
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Traffic Police have urged schools to encourage students to use school buses instead of private cars, highlighting that parent-driven vehicles during peak hours are a major contributor to traffic congestion.
Carpooling and awareness campaigns for parents were suggested as immediate solutions to ease the rush on roads.
Staggered timings to reduce road pressure
Authorities recommended staggering school start and dismissal times to prevent multiple schools releasing students simultaneously, which often leads to bottlenecks near U-turns and busy junctions.
Planned bus routes to avoid congestion
Proper planning of school bus routes was emphasised to ensure buses do not overlap on the same roads, thereby reducing unnecessary traffic jams during peak hours.
Ensuring safety on school transport
Bus drivers and conductors will undergo regular alcohol tests, and the Traffic Police will assist in regulating signals and school bus movements. Schools are advised to issue clear transport guidelines and circulate awareness material among parents.
Cooperation between schools, parents and police
Police officials stressed that smooth and safe traffic management requires active cooperation between schools, parents, and the Traffic Police.
The meeting saw participation from Madhapur Traffic DCP Sai Manohar, ACP Chandrashekar Reddy, SCSC CEO Naved Khan, and representatives from schools, including Sancta Maria International School, Phoenix Greens International School, Delhi Public School (Nanakramguda), Oakridge International School, Chirec International School, NASR School, Birla Open Minds and others.
