Cyberabad: Shamirpet SI in ACB net for accepting Rs 2.20 lakh as bribe
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), City Range Unit-II officials on Monday caught Shamirpet sub-inspector M Parashuram when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 22,000 from a complainant for showing official favor.
In a statement issued here, the accused officer demanded the bribe amount to exclude the complainant and his worker from the cheating case registered at Shamirpet police station and to return the complainant's cell phone.
Parashuram had already accepted a Rs 2,00,000 bribe from the complainant. The accused officer thereby performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly. The bribe amount was recovered from him at his instance.
Parashuram was arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.
The ACB officials urged people to call 1064 (toll-free number) to report any public servant asking for a bribe. The name and details of the complainant will be kept confidential.
